& Ground
Using figure and ground, this assignment explored the principle of Gestalt, which balances negative space with visual elements to create a visual illusion. The final product is 100” long, and 10” wide, folded into a 10” square accordion. Each square has a letter in the word “typography” and a sequential number beginning with zero. I wanted to create a visual flow from top to bottom, and utilize gestalt principles to create visual illusions.
